swpay
You no longer require permission to get paid

Introduction

This is all still being worked on, please direct enquiries to swpay@nikiflux.com

So a little while ago, with the help of someone on twitter, I set up a really simple payment page whcih lets me get paid in bitcoin.

As a SW, there's lots of websites and stuff which let you accept tips but commissions of 30-60% are common, and usually require someone to be a member too. Not ideal.

You can't use paypal (because you'll get chargebacked and/or shut down, don't do it), but you don't wanna be giving out bank details to randos either.

Bitcoin is a decentralised payment network which isn't controlled by any central authority, and by now it's pretty much too big for anyone like that to mess with it. It's as close as we currently have to a non-judgemental payment system.

The Bitcoin network gives exactly 0.0000000 fucks whether you're a SW, person of colour, LGBTQIA~ or whether the payment is for webcamming, selling underwear or whatever. If correctly stored bitcoin is very difficult if not impossible to confiscate (e.g. by the government or any other third party), and transactions are uncensorable.

This is pretty much why I think it makes it the perfect payment mechanism for SWers. The fact that the Fed are printing currency as quick as they can and are doing their best to devalue the dollar (and other fiat currencies doing the same), whereas Bitcoin's supply is fixed, which in a roundabout way means it's actually a pretty decent store of value too. As far as I'm aware it's the best performing asset this year [citation needed!]. Make of that what you will.

It's this background which led me to build the payment page for myself in the first place. I didn't really know if it would come to anything but much to my surprise it did quite well, and I ended having clients pay for shows, tributing etc through this page in the last few months....which then led me to thinking "shit I need to get my girls on this" which sorta spiralled into "why can't ALL SW have something like this?".
Well it turns out there's no such thing as free hosting (*which actually works, that I could find) and that's possibly one reason why all SW couldn't have a page like this...so I figured that at least is something I can change...so if you're a SW and want to accept bitcoin easily and relatively securely, then let me know and I'll set you up a payment page on here.

You could of course just download a bitcoin wallet and send clients a payment address each time but that requires interaction on your part. Either you have one address which you send out repeatedly (which has security/opsec implications), or you have to find a new address/qr code each time and send it to the client.

Again that's probably ok in a one-on-one situation but if you're in a cam show with more than one person and you have someone saying they want to pay you then I can just tell them go to my site and hit the "send btc" link, and that page has all the info and instructions they need in order to send me BTC. And it doesn't work if you're offline or asleep - whereas having a paige like this means your subs/admirers/fans can send you bitcoin at any time regardless what you're up to.

My logic is also that anyone who can operate paypal can operate coinbase. Coinbase.com is a large exchange and somewhere you can easily buy bitcoin with a credit card and minimal hassle. They're about the same evil/convenience balance as Paypal so it's quite a good equivalence.
The Bitcoin they send you goes directly into your bitcoin wallet on your pc/mac or mobile device. We don't see it or have any control over it. My hope is that people will use this page and get lots of bitcoin and maybe if they like it some of them might feel like they want to tip via our donation page. If not that's also fine. The only commissions taken from it are the network/transfer fees which are normally pretty small and not somethign we have control over.

Please note that "offramps" which let you convert btc->$£ (like coinbase, cashapp) will charge a fee for converting, but even then in a worst case you're looking at more like 6% fees vs the 30-60% commissions/admin fee we're used to on camsites or whateverfans.

Sounds like a no-brainer, right?

Once someone has paid you, the page will notice and then switch to showing a new payment address. You can pay to the same address multiple times, but then it links all those payments together as clearly being to the same person, which isn't great for privacy. Bitcoin uses a *public ledger* which means all transactions are visible to everyone forever, and whilst the transactions on their own don't mean much, there are chain-analytics companies which spend all day analysing this stuff and if they can link one of those payments to a place which you've been KYC'd (e.g. coinbase or similar exchange), then they can potentially connect a whole bunch of your transactions to your ID. This is why it's important to practice good privacy as far as you can.
